A Walk Through The Woods For Balance

8th Grade; Springtime After Fall & Winter Championships

Depression has always made me feel like I was on a journey to somewhere. My life experiences continued to clarify the vision of my purpose long before I knew I had a purpose.

My life always felt like a movie…

Like I was in an Anime or something…

I remember one day that I will never forget…

It was like a sign.

I’m walking through a particular section of woods in my neighborhood that is close to where I would normally play basketball. I have time to be free, so I leisurely walk around; taking notice of all nature has to offer. I notice a soggy looking suitcase in the distance up the creek.

The closer I walk towards the suitcase…

The more I see mold…

As I reluctantly reach for the zipper, I’m hoping I find some money lol

Unfortunately… just a gradient of mold growing deeper into the clothes…

“Wait… I see a rectangle shape in the moldy shirts… like a box is underneath or something…”

I peel back the grouping of shirts, touching the least amount of fabric as possible. Sure enough…

I see a Nike Logo…

The box is surprisingly still clean…

I open the box…

Indeed…

It was still clean…

I see a Size 10 fresh pair of Frosty White High-Top Air Force Ones…

Did I take them, leave the rest, and wear them to school for the rest of the year?

Lol yes.

But that’s not really the funny part…

On the last day of 8th Grade, I switched the shoes for some beat up sneakers I had to use for last period PE class.

I literally left the Ones in a storage space on accident 🙃 and went home…

When I realized I didn’t have the shoes, it was too late…

The school was closed for the summer…

I was sure that the shoes returned to the streets the same way they came to me…

Moral of the Story: Trying to control beauty too much may cause you to lose sight of how you got it to begin with; in turn concluding your turn with it.
